Corrections Education Centre is a key portfolio of Bendigo Kangan Institute (BKI), delivering high-quality education programs to people in custody in partnership with Corrections Victoria and private prison operators. Through strong collaboration with multiple custodial sites, we play a vital role in supporting rehabilitation by building skills, confidence and meaningful pathways for reintegration into the community. 

  

Learning delivery is adapted to the custodial context, with paper-based delivery and controlled classroom settings. Our educators work directly with individuals, often navigating diverse learning needs. Success in this environment requires professionals who are confident in demonstrating emotional intelligence and resilience, bring sound judgement and a strong commitment to professional conduct.  

 

About The Role: 

Location: Ravenhall Correctional Centre 
Role Type: Part-time (0.8 FTE) ongoing  
Availablity: flexible with days  
Remuneration:   starting at $ 94,772.16 (inclusive of 12% super, pro-rata, dependent on qualifications) 

As a Teacher Engineering (Welding), you will deliver practical, engaging training and assessment that supports learners to build job-ready skills across engineering and related trade areas. You will bring your industry knowledge into the classroom and workshop, helping students develop technical capability, confidence, and safe work practices. Your role will include: 

  • Delivering vocational training aligned to engineering standards and safety requirements 

  • Supporting learners to build practical skills and workplace readiness 

  • Adapting resources and assessments for diverse learner needs 

  • Maintaining accurate training and compliance records 

  • Contributing to meaningful vocational education and learner pathways 

 

We are excited about you because you have: 

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

  • Engineering or welding qualifications 

  • Current experience in welding 

  • Training, coaching or mentoring experience (beneficial) 

  • Effective communication skills for working in correctional settings 

  • Confidence using basic digital systems 

  • Strong organisation and attention to detail 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively 

  • Commitment to safety, inclusion and learner success
