Position: VCE Teacher with Student Success Responsibilities

FTE: Full-time, Ongoing 

Location: Broadmeadows

Salary: $125,000 salary plus above award allowance

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team as a VCE Teacher with Student Success Coach responsibilities. In this dual role, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality VCE education while providing essential support to students and staff, ensuring their success and wellbeing throughout their learning journey. You will deliver foundational courses at our Broadmeadows Campus, based on an innovative 2-year program. 

 

This role provides students with practical, hands-on learning experiences while preparing them for successful transitions to apprenticeships, traineeships, further education, university, or direct employment. You'll work primarily in classrooms, and potentially online environments, creating engaging learning experiences tailored to individual student needs. Key Responsibilities:

VCE Teaching:

  • Deliver engaging and flexible VCE programmes catering to diverse learning needs and styles.
  • Support students with language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) challenges.
  • Create real-world, hands-on learning experiences that build on individual student strengths.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, ensuring VET-compliant records are maintained.

Student Success:

  • Act as a key liaison between students, families, and staff, fostering positive relationships to support student success and wellbeing.
  • Provide guidance and assistance on student behaviour management and wellbeing, conducting professional development for staff as needed.
  • Assist in marketing and delivering information to prospective and current students, families, and schools.
  • Collaborate with the Program Lead to establish class groupings and organise welcome sessions for new students.
  • Monitor student behaviour, intervene when necessary, and support teachers in managing student conduct.
  • Oversee student attendance and participate in student-teacher meetings, report proofreading, and other administrative duties.
  • Assist in organising extracurricular activities such as excursions, SWL, and student functions (graduations, celebrations, etc.).

General Support & Administration:

  • Ensure clear communication of student support needs across all relevant teams.
  • Assist with incident reporting, tracking student behaviour, and ensuring compliance with Child Safety protocols.
  • Facilitate student contracts and contribute to regular reporting, including trends in student performance and staff needs.
  • Support and contribute to staff meetings, student assemblies, and cross-departmental initiatives.

Qualifications Required:

  • Graduate Diploma/Bachelor of Education in Secondary or Adult Education.
  • VIT registration or working towards obtaining VIT registration.
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or willingness to enrol.

 

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Proven experience in VCE teaching, with a focus on student-centred learning.
  • Strong understanding of student support strategies, including behaviour management and wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of VET-compliance and child safety requirements.
