Kangan Institute is seeking a passionate and experienced educator to join an exciting new pilot program being delivered in partnership with Youth Projects. Based at an offsite location in St Albans with some teaching in our Broadmeadows Campus, this unique opportunity offers the chance to work directly with vulnerable young people and adult learners, supporting them to engage in education, build confidence, and develop pathways into further study and employment.

This role is ideal for a teacher who is committed to trauma-informed practice, student-centred learning, and creating safe, inclusive environments where every learner can succeed.

Location: St Albans/Broadmeadows
Role Type: Part-time, ongoing (0.8 FTE)
Remuneration: $84,618 - $110,834 (plus 12%% superannuation) – qualification dependant

About the Program:

This innovative pilot program is being delivered in partnership with Youth Projects, a leading Victorian not-for-profit organisation that supports young people and people experiencing disadvantage through education, employment, health, homelessness, and support services. Youth Projects works alongside individuals who face significant barriers to participation, helping them build confidence, independence, wellbeing and meaningful pathways into education and employment.

The program seeks to engage learners who may have experienced challenges in traditional educational settings and provides a supportive, flexible learning environment that focuses on personal growth, vocational development and positive outcomes.

About The Role:

As the Teacher, you will:

• Deliver engaging, industry-relevant training and assessment in Community Services and related disciplines.
• Foster a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment for vulnerable students.
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learner needs.
• Work collaboratively with Youth Projects staff and support services to enhance student participation and retention.
• Monitor student progress and provide coaching, mentoring and wellbeing-informed support.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and innovative educational delivery models.
• Maintain compliance with training package and regulatory requirements.

Essential Requirements

• TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent compliant qualification).
• Relevant qualification in Community Services, Mental Health, Youth Work, or related field.
• Demonstrated industry experience within the community services sector.
• Experience delivering vocational education and training (VET), preferably in Community Services.
• Strong communication, engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Experience supporting students from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds.

Highly Regarded

• Experience working with vulnerable, disengaged or at-risk young people.
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice.
• Mental Health or Youth Work specialisation.
• Experience working within community-based education programs.
• Knowledge of learner wellbeing and support frameworks.
