Location: Broadmeadows
Role Type: Part-time, ongoing - 0.8 FTE into 0.6 FTE
Remuneration: From $95,148 salary plus 12% superannuation

About The Role:

As a Payroll Officer, you will deliver timely and accurate payroll services for approximately 1,500 staff across Bendigo TAFE, Kangan Institute, VETASSESS, and eWorks. You’ll process fortnightly payroll, manage leave and timesheets, handle payroll deductions, and ensure compliance with awards, agreements, and contracts. You’ll be supported by a highly experienced Senior Payroll Officer and work within a team that values collaboration and attention to detail.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process fortnightly payroll and ensure all payments (superannuation, payroll tax, deductions) are accurate and timely
  • Review and process timesheets for casual staff, expense and overtime claims
  • Maintain accurate leave records and payroll system data
  • Issue employee letters (service, employment, separation, etc.)
  • Support onboarding and termination processes
  • Respond to payroll queries and collaborate with HR and finance stakeholders
  • Stay updated on payroll legislation and compliance requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar payroll role
  • Experience with payroll systems (Empower, SAP or similar)
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to interpret awards, enterprise agreements, and contracts
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of ATO requirements, Pay As You Go instalments, Superannuation Guarantee contributions
  • Experience in TAFE/education sector (desirable)
  • Relevant degree or diploma in business, finance, or related field (desirable)
