About The Role:

As the Manager, Student Wellbeing and Engagement, you will lead one of Bendigo Kangan Institute’s most critical portfolios, bringing together student wellbeing, engagement and experience into a single, integrated approach that supports students to thrive.


Reporting to the Head of Student Support and Success, this role plays a pivotal part in shaping how BKI supports student retention, wellbeing, belonging and success across the full learner lifecycle-  from pre‑enrolment through to completion and beyond. You will oversee a diverse portfolio spanning student wellbeing, counselling, engagement initiatives, international student support and student voice, ensuring services are cohesive, accessible and aligned across metro and regional campuses.


As a key member of the Student Support and Success leadership team, you will influence institutional priorities, governance and continuous improvement, helping to evolve a modern, evidence‑based and student‑centred model of support that reflects the needs of a diverse learner cohort and delivers meaningful, measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role you will:

  • Lead the strategic direction and delivery of student wellbeing, engagement and experience services across BKI.
  • Integrate wellbeing, engagement and student voice into a cohesive, student‑centred model across the full learner lifecycle.
  • Drive student retention, wellbeing and belonging through trauma‑informed, evidence‑based and data‑driven practices.
  • Provide strong clinical governance, risk oversight and compliance with legislative and child‑safety requirements.
  • Build and lead high‑performing teams and partnerships to deliver consistent, high‑quality outcomes across metro and regional campuses.

About You:

You are a collaborative and strategic leader with a strong background in student wellbeing, engagement or support services, and a passion for creating inclusive, connected and supportive student experiences. You bring clinical credibility, change leadership capability and a data‑informed approach to improving outcomes for diverse learner cohorts.


You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, counselling or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in wellbeing, engagement or student support within education or a comparable setting
  • Strong clinical governance knowledge, including trauma‑informed practice and legislative compliance
  • Proven experience leading change, service integration and continuous improvement initiatives
  • The ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead high‑performing, multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations
