The Opportunity
As our Disability Transition Officer, you’ll join us in a part-time, fixed-term role through to May 2028, providing personalised support to students with disability as they transition from secondary school, specialist school or an alternative education setting into TAFE.

Working within a Team Around the Learner framework, you’ll partner with students, families, schools, allied health professionals and BKI support teams to develop practical transition plans and coordinate the support students need throughout their first 90 days of enrolment.

You’ll help students and their families understand the TAFE environment, navigate enrolment and reasonable adjustments, and feel informed and supported as they begin their studies.

What You'll Do

• Guide students, families and schools through the transition from secondary school to TAFE.
• Develop personalised 90-day transition plans outlining key supports and actions.
• Coordinate wrap-around support with families, schools, allied health professionals, educators and BKI teams.
• Help students understand reasonable adjustments and their options in a TAFE setting.
• Support students and families with enrolment, course expectations, placements and support services.
• Build relationships with schools, internal teams and external partners to strengthen transition pathways.
• Maintain data to evaluate the quality and impact of transition support.
• Contribute to the Victorian TAFE Network Disability Transition Officer Community of Practice.
  
  

What You'll Bring
You’ll be a compassionate and collaborative professional who understands the experiences of young people with disability as they navigate educational and life transitions.

You’ll bring:

• Relevant qualifications and experience in disability support, education, youth services, student support or a related field.
• Knowledge of disability support, reasonable adjustments and relevant policies and legislation.
• Understanding of the challenges young people with disability, mental health or medical conditions may face during educational transitions.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with students, families, schools, educators and support professionals.
• Experience developing information, resources or training that supports inclusive transitions.
• Strong problem-solving, planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Understanding of secondary school and Victorian vocational education environments, or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge.
