Position: Disability Liaison Officer
Role Type: Full Time, Permanent
Location: Travel between Metro Campus’ (Onsite)
Salary: $88,872.00 (based on qualifications and experience)
About the Role
Are you passionate about fostering inclusive education and empowering students of all abilities to thrive? Bendigo Kangan Institute (BKI) is on the lookout for a dynamic Disability Liaison Officer to join our dedicated, multi-disciplinary and diverse Student Support Team. You’ll play a pivotal role in supporting students with disabilities, ensuring they receive personalised support and reasonable adjustments that allow them to succeed academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and develop Learning Access Plans tailored to individual needs
- Liaise with teaching teams to ensure classroom accessibility and inclusion
- Supervise external support workers and lead the rostering and allocation of support workers
- Champion the use of assistive technologies and connect students with vital resources
- Collaborate with NDIS providers and external agencies for holistic support
- Ensure compliance with disability legislation and Bendigo Kangan Institute policies
- Advocate for students through negotiation, conciliation, and awareness initiatives
Key Requirements
- Tertiary qualification or significant experience in Disability Support, Social Work, or similar
- Deep knowledge of the Disability Discrimination Act, Human Rights, and other key legislation
- Experience in Case management and Learning Access Plan is required
- Experience within an education setting is preferable
- Flexibility to travel between Metro campuses e.g.: Docklands, Cremorne, Essendon and upcoming Sunbury campus based on departmental needs
- Proven skills in communication, leadership, case management, and stakeholder engagement
- A collaborative mindset and passion for building inclusive learning environments
- Valid WWCC, willingness to obtain a Police Check, Full working rights in Australia
