Role Type: Full-time, ongoing

Remuneration: $147,802.69 salary plus 12% superannuation

About The Role:

The Department Manager – Health (Regional & Metro) plays a critical leadership role in shaping and delivering Bendigo Kangan Institute’s health education portfolio across metro and regional Victoria.

 

Reporting to the Director of Health and Community Centre of Excellence, this role is responsible for leading the delivery and continuous improvement of a diverse portfolio of classroom-based health programs, ensuring high-quality teaching, strong student outcomes and alignment to industry and regulatory expectations.

 

The role is metro-based, with Broadmeadows as the preferred base to support leadership presence, and will require travel across Victoria to support staff, delivery and operations across multiple campuses. A key focus of the role is maintaining a visible and connected leadership presence across sites, while driving consistency and quality in program delivery.

 

You will lead and develop a team of Program Leads and educators, supporting them to achieve performance targets, deliver engaging and compliant training, and continuously improve teaching and learning practices. You will play a key role in ensuring programs are delivered effectively, are responsive to student and industry needs, and align to BKI’s strategic direction.

 

Working closely with internal stakeholders and industry, you will ensure programs remain relevant, compliant and positioned for sustainable growth. This is a leadership role focused on people, delivery excellence, and operational performance within a classroom-based environment.

 

We are excited about you because you have:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in health, health services, aged care, allied health or related sectors, or within education environments delivering health programs
  • Proven capability leading, engaging and developing teams to achieve operational and strategic outcomes
  • A strong understanding of the vocational education and training environment, including regulatory and quality requirements (e.g. ASQA, VRQA or equivalent)
  • The ability to translate strategic objectives into clear, practical and measurable operational plans
  • Experience overseeing program delivery, quality and performance in a classroom-based or structured learning environment
  • Sound commercial and financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, resources and performance outcomes
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills across internal teams and industry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence across diverse groups
  • Strong problem-solving capability, supported by critical thinking and a proactive leadership approach
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence and the ability to travel across BKI campuses
