The Opportunity
In this fixed term role, as a Careers Consultant, you'll play an important role in helping young people reconnect with education, training and employment through the Victorian Early Leaver Connection Initiative (VELCI).
You'll provide personalised career guidance, facilitate employability workshops, connect participants with the right support services and build strong relationships across education, industry and the local community.
Every day will look a little different. One day you might be coaching a young person through their next career move, the next you're delivering a workshop, attending a careers expo or collaborating with community partners to create better outcomes.

What You'll Do
- Provide professional career counselling and guidance across education, training and employment pathways.
- Support young people to identify goals and connect with the right services, opportunities and support networks.
- Design and deliver engaging employability workshops and information sessions.
- Build strong relationships with schools, community organisations, employers and external service providers.
- Represent the Skills and Jobs Centre at careers expos, community events and outreach activities.
- Stay informed on local labour market trends to provide practical and relevant career advice.
- Maintain accurate participant records and contribute to program reporting and government KPIs.
What You'll Bring
You're someone who enjoys working with people and believes everyone deserves the opportunity to build a brighter future.
You'll also bring:
- A Graduate Certificate in Career Development (or equivalent tertiary qualification in Career Development).
- Experience providing career counselling, education or employment pathway advice.
- The ability to build trust and rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience designing or facilitating employability, career development or personal development workshops.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence engaging both one-on-one and in group settings.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
- A collaborative mindset and genuine passion for helping people achieve positive education and employment outcomes.
