About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity to transition from industry into teaching (or continue your teaching career) in a hands-on, practical learning environment.
You will deliver high-quality vocational education and training in heavy diesel automotive, working closely with apprentices and industry stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver engaging, competency-based training and assessment across automotive programs
- Prepare and adapt learning materials to suit a self-paced learning environment
- Support student progression through mentoring, feedback and employer engagement
- Conduct practical assessments and ensure training meets industry and compliance standards
- Build strong relationships with industry to ensure learning remains relevant and future-focused
You’ll typically work across a structured week with teaching, planning and non-attendance (professional development) time built in.
About you
You’re an experienced automotive professional who wants to share your knowledge and invest in the next generation.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Strong heavy diesel experience (road transport, mobile plant or agricultural machinery)
- A collaborative, team-focused approach with strong communication skills
- A passion for mentoring and developing apprentices
- Solid technical knowledge with a willingness to keep learning
Qualifications:
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE) OR willingness to obtain
- Relevant vocational qualifications at least to the level being delivered
Highly regarded:
- Experience with hydraulics, electrical systems or diagnostics
- Breakdown or field service experience
- Exposure to emerging technologies (e.g. EV or advanced systems)
