The Opportunity:

The AMEP Sessional Teacher delivers high-quality English language training to adult migrants and refugees through the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP). The role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, and supporting learners to achieve their language, employment, further study, and community participation goals. The teacher works collaboratively with colleagues to provide a positive, inclusive, and learner-centred environment while ensuring compliance with AMEP and organisational requirements.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Deliver engaging, culturally responsive EAL lessons tailored to diverse learner needs
  • Create a safe, inclusive classroom where every student feels valued and supported
  • Track and support student progress to help them achieve language and settlement goals
  • Collaborate with like-minded educators to share ideas and best practice
  • Maintain high-quality teaching, assessment, and compliance standards

 

About You:

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about supporting migrant learners to build confidence, improve their English, and achieve their goals. You are empathetic, patient, and committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where students feel supported to succeed.

You will:

  • Hold an Undergraduate degree (or higher) in any discipline and a TESOL qualification, typically one of the following:
    • Graduate Certificate in TESOL (most common minimum)
    • Graduate Diploma in TESOL
    • Master of TESOL / Applied Linguistics
  • Hold a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Be able to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the team
  • Apply strong organisational and digital skills in your teaching practice
  • Be reliable, flexible, and proactive in responding to student and program needs
