About The Role:

The Program Lead – Community Work-Based and Short Courses is a key leadership role responsible for delivering and growing Bendigo Kangan Institute’s workplace-based and short course community services portfolio across metro and regional Victoria.

Reporting to the Department Manager, you will lead and manage a team of educators delivering programs across Victoria, providing day-to-day support, guidance and oversight to ensure high-quality student outcomes. You will oversee delivery across a diverse range of programs, including established workplace-based courses and emerging short course offerings requiring development and promotion. You will support delivery across multiple campuses and delivery modes, ensuring consistency, quality and a strong student experience.

This role combines operational leadership with strategic growth. You will be responsible for strengthening and expanding industry partnerships, working closely with employers and community organisations to ensure programs remain responsive to workforce needs. A key component of the role is driving growth in new and developing programs, including those in their early stages, while maintaining effective delivery across established offerings.

The role is predominantly campus-based, with a strong external focus. You will regularly engage with industry partners across Victoria, including travel between metro and regional locations and occasional overnight stays. The position offers a high degree of autonomy, enabling you to manage your own workload and priorities while responding to program and partner needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support educators delivering workplace-based and short course programs
  • Oversee program coordination, delivery, and student outcomes across multiple locations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners and employers
  • Drive growth in emerging programs, including short courses in early stages of delivery
  • Support the development of new work-based delivery models
  • Ensure programs meet compliance and quality standards
  • Work collaboratively across teams to ensure consistent and effective delivery

  • Workplace-based community services programs (Diploma and Cert IV)
  • Mental Health (work-based)
  • Alcohol and Other Drugs (including expanding work-based delivery)
  • Residential Care and Family Violence short courses (growth focus)

This role will balance maintaining established programs with building new offerings and increasing industry engagement.

We are excited about you because you have:

  • A qualification in community services, social work, or a related field
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (minimum)
  • Diploma of VET (desirable)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in education or training environments
  • Experience or understanding of workplace-based training models
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to drive program growth and respond to emerging industry needs
  • Strong organisational and operational leadership capability
  • A collaborative and proactive leadership style
  • Valid working with children’s check and National police check clearance
  • The ability to work collaboratively across teams and locations, with a current Victorian Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel between campuses as required

We can offer you:

  • Attractive work-life balance and flexible work options
  • Professional development programs
  • Fitness Passport Program with exclusive access for you and your family to 230+ locations Australia wide
  • Counselling support (EAP) and Health & Wellbeing initiatives throughout the year
