About The Role:
As a People & Culture Business Partner, you will play a critical role in supporting Bendigo Kangan Institute through a period of change, growth and capability uplift. Partnering with senior leaders across metro and regional portfolios, you will deliver practical, high‑quality people solutions aligned to organisational priorities, values and our 2030 strategy.
This is a true generalist Business Partner role with a strong focus on Employee and Industrial Relations. You will be trusted to support leaders with end-to-end complex case management, advise on performance and conduct matters, support organisational change initiatives including restructures and workforce transformation. You will also work collaboratively with the wider P&C team and support functions including Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) across varying pieces of work.
Reporting to the Manager, Business Partnering, you will join a collaborative and values‑driven People & Culture team that is focused on uplifting leadership capability, embedding best practice and creating a positive, inclusive and high‑performing culture.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role you will:
- Provide strategic and operational P&C partnering across designated portfolios
- Support managers with complex ER and IR matters, including interpretation and application of Enterprise Agreements and managing underperformance and conduct issues
- Partner with leaders to undertake workforce planning and organisational design including change initiatives, restructures, and capability uplift
- Work in collaboration with the HSW team to support client groups with WorkCover and HSW matters
- Collaborate with the wider P&C team and broader support functions to deliver targeted initiatives and projects
- Champion employee engagement, wellbeing and inclusive culture initiatives
- Contribute to enterprise‑wide people projects and continuous improvement initiatives
About You:
You are a confident, experienced and pragmatic HR professional who enjoys working in complex environments and partnering closely with leaders to navigate challenging people matters and deliver strategic initiatives.
You bring:
- Significant experience as a Business Partner in a medium to large, complex organisation
- Strong ER/IR capability, including experience working with Enterprise Agreements
- Demonstrated experience managing high‑volume and complex case work
- The ability to influence and coach leaders with differing styles and expectations
- Sound judgement, resilience and the ability to balance empathy with clear, direct advice
- A collaborative, solutions‑focused approach and a continuous improvement mindset
- Experience working in collaboration with Health, Safety and Well-being functions
Experience in the public sector or education sector will be highly regarded, as will relevant tertiary qualifications in HR or a related discipline.
